Kulari ke Hutan 2
Kulari ke Hutan 2
To repeat the exciting 2016 success of Kulari ke Hutan, Hutan Itu Indonesia held Kulari ke Hutan 2 on 22 October 2017 and invited both runners and non-runners to contribute directly to protecting Indonesia’s forests. For every five kilometers run within two hours, a participant was able to adopt one standing tree in the forest, with money coming from sponsorship and matching funds.
After successfully adopting 1,039 trees in 2016, the 600 runners participating in Kulari ke Hutan 2 adopted 1,042 trees in Gunung Palung National Park, West Kalimantan under a program managed by Alam Sehat Lestari Foundation (ASRI). ASRI combines forest protection with the free provision of health services. Participants in Kulari ke Hutan 2 adopted 12-year old trees that guard orangutan movement corridors, helped with healthcare for 1,000 patients living around the national park and provided working capital for the businesses of 422 families
